Klub Weekend - Midsummer on Gower

Once again we will be combining our Klub Weekend with the Midsummer on Gower weekend to be hosted by SBOC on 17th-19th June. This is always a relaxed and sociable occasion, combining good orienteering with the opportunity to gather for a barbecue on Saturday evening. There are 3 events on offer, starting with an informal event at Whiteford Burrows on Friday evening and followed by a Welsh League event on the challenging dunes of Broughton Burrows on the Saturday. The popular 2x2 relay event, which aims to match courses to age class so that any pair can win, is at Cefn Bryn on Sunday. Pre-entry via Fabian4 (by Sunday 12th June) is required for Saturday and Sunday; Friday is entry on the day. Camping will be at Kennoxstone Camping & Touring Park, Gower. Please book direct with the park on 01792 386790, mentioning orienteering as they will be setting aside space for us. Further details of the weekend can be found on the SBOC website.

British Relays - entries still open

Entries are still open for the British Relays to be held on Sunday 15th May near Sheffield. If you haven't yet entered but would like to run, please let Chris or Helen Kelsey know by Friday 29th April.

Quantocks Fell Race

The Quantocks Fell Race (7 miles + 1700 feet of climb) is on Saturday 19th February starting at 1100 from Holford Green, Nether Stowey ST154411.

Reminder - Compass Sport Cup Qualifier

Entries for the Compass Sport Cup qualifying round at Longleat on 16th January need to be received by your Klub Captains by Friday 7th January. CSC Final 17th October

Coach transport with overnight accommodation at Eyam youth hostel is now confirmed. There are still places available, so please contact your Klub Captains as soon as possible if you want to take advantage of this. Similarly, if you haven't yet entered the event but wish to do so, please let us know.

Reminder - Klub Weekend 18th-20th June

Klub Weekend 18th-20th June

SBOC has once again invited us to join them for their Mid Summer weekend, which this year will use Margam Country Park as the event campsite and Merthyr Mawr for the Saturday Regional event and Sunday 2x2 relays. There will also be a Friday evening event at Graig Fawr and we plan to have a barbecue on the Saturday evening. Margam Country Park has plenty of camping space and free access to the country park and some attractions. Fees are £7.50 per unit per night (tent or van), no hook ups but shower and toilets; see www.npt.gov.uk/margampark for further details. All events are within 20 minutes of the campsite. Harvester Relays - Reminder

The closing date for the Harvester relays is fast approaching. If you wish to run, please let your Klub Captains know as soon as possible.

BOC Relay Teams

The BOC relay teams are now on the website. There is currently a vacancy in an M18 team, so eligible volunteers please let your Klub captains know. If you can advise us of your running orders, we may be able to declare teams online before the event. But if not, please come to the Individual day with the necessary information.

JK Relay Teams

BOK teams for the JK relays are now on the website, see Hot Links. We've tried to achieve the best fit of runners to classes, but as usual not everyone can be placed in the most ideal class. Please liaise within your teams to agree a running order. Legs are run in the order Long/Short/Long for classes A-H, Green/Orange/Green for classes J & K. For the Mixed Ad Hoc, legs are Long Green/Short Green/Orange but not in a prescribed order. If you notify Klub Captains of your running order by 11pm on Wednesday 31st March, team declarations can be made online. Otherwise it will be pen and paper at the event.

Reminder - British & JK Relays

The first closing date for the British Relays is Sunday 28th Feb and for the JK Relays Sunday 7th March. If you want to be included in the first round of entries, please contact your Klub Captains now.

Compass Sport Cup Qualifier 24th Jan 2010

The venue for this event is now confirmed as Godshill and Hampton Ridge in the New Forest. BOK will be up against BKO, DEVON, SOC and TVOC, so we need you all if we're to make it through to the Final. An updated entry form is available on the BOK website, entry fees are now confirmed as £6 for seniors (plus £1 for Emit hire) and £3 for juniors. Junior girls will be pleased to note a rule change that will separate the M/W classes in Orange and Light Green, which should enable junior girls to stand an equal chance of scoring. Please put the date in your diaries now and return the entry form to Chris or Helen Kelsey as soon as possible. Event information is available on the SOC website.

We aim to share camping with SBOC at Kennexstone Camping Park http://www.gowercamping.co.uk/, with the traditional socialising activities including a barbecue and rounders on Saturday evening. So that we can give SBOC an idea of numbers and ensure adequate camping space together, please contact Chris or Helen Kelsey as soon as possible to indicate an interest. Harvester Relays 20th/21st June

This year’s Harvester relays will be held on the complex open limestone terrain of Merthyr Common in South Wales. The Harvester is a multi-leg night/day team event, commencing late on the Saturday evening and continuing into the early part of Sunday morning. There is a 7-leg A course and a 5-leg B course, with various classes available including a handicap. Please let Chris or Helen Kelsey know if you’d like to enter so that they can co-ordinate the team entries. It would be good to get a Junior team together this year, so all you Juniors who may have finished exams by then, please make yourselves known. For those fit enough, there will also be a warm-up event on the Saturday afternoon at Clydach Terrace, as used for the final day of Croeso 2008.

Compass Sport Cup Qualifying Round - 15th March

After some debate following the change of date of the SWOA fixture from 29th March to 15th March, it has been decided to nominate the SWOA (DEVON) event at Bullers Hill near Exeter on 15th March as our first choice. Although this date clashes with some other running events in the region, there are also club member commitments on the 29th March. While the date and venue are still provisional subject to confirmation by the CSC co-ordinating team, it is likely that we will be given our choice. So please get your entry forms back to your Klub Captains as soon as possible, but also keep an eye on this website for any changed information.
